Ugh, 2025

I am NOT ready. Also dreading what is to come. Top wish is that we survive the next four years, second is that we still have the right to vote in four years. In fair and free elections, not the shit they do in Russia.

Anyway! Someone suggested doing a WIP-down, and since I have a bin of WIPs that I haven't touched in years (other than to move the bin), plus WIPs all over the house, I think it's an excellent idea.

But because I am who I am, I am bound to get distracted. I made a list for 2024 of what I was going to work on each month, and I got distracted from the list in February. Hell, I get distracted from FINISHED projects - I was looking at my list of what I have in hibernation, and apparently I finished a sweater in 2008 that is still waiting for the ends to be woven in. I should probably take that out of the closet, see if it still fits.

And the number is 72. I have 72 projects that are classified as hibernating. One is a sample that was waiting to be linked to the pattern when it was published, but it never made it into the database. I should probably find my copy of the book and add it. There are many projects that weren't even cast on, I just started the project page. Many more are in progress, but I don't even know WHERE they are now.

As for in progress, I have 35 projects. Some are done and just waiting for tags so I can mark them finished, I should do that this week. At least 10 will go away. I also want to start a sweater tomorrow, for NYECO.

Which means I have in the neighborhood of 100 projects to deal with. Wow. Shit. This is WAY overdue. Although I learned to knit in 2005, so setting aside only five projects a year isn't too bad? Bit it's definitely time to finish or frog.

Anyway, because distractions, I am listing some exceptions to the WIPs-only rule.

Exceptions:
  1. Unexpected gifts - baby announcements, memorial projects
  2. Slippers and hats - Still slippering, and am ALWAYS ,alomg hats
  3. Yarn that is designated for a pattern.
  4. Yarn that is wound/caked
  5. Projects knit with handspun
  6. One SQUIRREL project each month, although cannot start a new one until the previous one is finished
  7. One new sweater start per three sweaters finished
  8. Anything on the 2024 list

2024 List:
Rose of Inverness
Penguin socks
Mixtape Cowl
Peeking Panda
Earthstar
Wings of Wonder
Sweaters:
Strathclyde
Anyday Sweatshirt
Imogen
Kidalton

I should probably hold to Rule #7 for the four sweaters on the 2024 list. But we'll see!

Update: I also need to assess the state of the FO bins. I have WAY too many things that I've made that I never wear. They deserve better homes.

Now it's time to cast on a few of the projects that I can't wait on! Make more WIPs before 2025! There's a Vest-Along happening, a Kate Davies-along, and I have some hot pink yarn that has been glaring at me, therefore it needs to be turned into a shawl during this dark time of the year.

Wish me luck!
