All we want to do is eat your brains...

Quick post, this. Was driving to the bullseye and neighboring box store yesterday, and saw the strangest thing. A cardinal was hopping across the street, chasing a mouse. Really? Do cardinals do that? Perhaps. Anyway, as I got closer, the bird flew off, well, at least made a short hop out of the road, and the mouse hung a U-ie and ran back across the road. At least it started. I'm not sure if it ran into/under my tires, but I may have made the cardinal's meal easier. It was the most surreal moment of the day.

Let's see, what else is going on? Speaking of surreal moments, visited Gretchen two weeks ago. On Saturday we were riding the subway back from Coney Island, after being part of a public display of knitting, when a Buddhist monk wearing a robe and sandals sat down across from us. He took our picture, because, you know, we were weird.

In other knitting news, working on my sweater quest. On #5 so far. Gretchen visited at New Year's and we knit the scoop pullover. I sent mine to Lista, as it was simply not flattering on me, although it looked lovely on Zuzu.

Sweater #2 was Sonnet, although I did a stockinette body rather than garter, as I wanted to show off the yarn better. It still needs blocked, seamed, and buttons.

Took a break in February for the Ravelympics. It was pointed out to me that I should be ashamed of myself, being a knitter without a scarf, so I made one. A nice, green Clap(otis).

Started an Icarus, but despite my crazy spreadsheet, I realized that I was going to run out of yarn. So I have some frogging to do, and then more lace to knit. No rush, though, so I'm trying to catch up on my sweater-making.

Sweater #3 is Max! Sadly, I haven't done the ears yet, and have been terrible about progress shots, so I'm ganking one of the designer's. I have a present to send to her, so hopefully she won't mind. Anyway, it just needs ears, blocked and buttons.

Max WIP Grrrrr

Sweater #4 is the Einstein Coat, as I was going to see Wye Oak and Shearwater and wanted something mindless to keep my hands busy while my ears were occupied, and what is more mindless than 400 rows of garter stitch? It, too, needs blocked, seamed and buttons, but it also will get a collar. I want to block it before I seam, since we all know that EcoWool can grow and grow, and I don't want bunchy seams. Plus I hate seaming, and procrastination is good.

Sweater #5, finally, is the Vine Yoke Cardigan. I have been drooling over this pattern ever since it was published, and I've had the yarn, but had too much other stuff going on to start it. Finally! I have the right front done and about a third of the right sleeve.

Oh yeah, and along the way I knit an angora-merino-silk neckwarmer for my mom. She gets to sew her own buttons on, because that way they might be attached sometime this century.

Also, I didn't really want to take a sweater's worth of yarn to NYC, so I brought socks. Strawberry mojito socks, even! Berrylicious! Nicola is a wonderful designer and a lovely person, and lets me test-knit even though I'm pathetically slow and stuff. Anyway, they are gorgeous and my picture does not do them justice. Not at all.

Oh! I forgot about Gretchen's bag! Yes. I made her one. I don't think I've uploaded good pictures yet, so none to share, but hopefully soon... I need to find my camera, as the pictures are still in it.

Anyway, I need to get moving to work. Eek! Too much to do! Have fun!

I had a dream that David Cassidy was my father

Zuzu was early this morning - 3-ish. I heard her, but rolled over, and went back to sleep. And we all know that that makes for the most bizarre dreams. I feel like sharing, so here we go...

I was trying to purchase a salad for lunch at some sort of cafeteria thing, whatever. They had mostly salads with chicken, and I wanted one with artichokes, no chicken. I dig through the stack of plastic cartons, and finally find a salad suitable for my lunch. At that point, I was very frustrated and cranky, as my blood sugar was very low, and I desperately needed to eat. (I blame Zuzu for food being on my mind. It's several hours later, and I still haven't eaten breakfast, with no ill effects.)

I take my salad to the checkout, at which point I realize that my purse is on a table a few steps away, and the cashier is being difficult about me stepping away to get it. I grab my purse anyway, and look for money. I can't find cash, and the cashier is being nasty, so I start crying. (At least it wasn't over a server this time, right?) I tell her that I really need to eat, and calls EMS. I don't want emergency attention, and "does she know who my father is?" Anyway, I grab a piece of plastic to pay for lunch, she gasps, and I end up bolting. I ran through this amazingly huge building, dodging people with cameras and others who want to meet me simply because I am the child of David Cassidy (I punched a woman who got too close, and ended up hugging someone who didn't know who of my dream father.). Now that I'm awake, I'd imagine that his kids get more of a nonchalant, "Oh, cool," reaction than Partridge-mania, but who knows.

Zuzu did succeed in waking me completely, using a new method that I hope she never uses again. Kitty drool. On my face. Yuck. Definitely woke me, though. She is now curled up on one knee, as I have the laptop on the other. Such a sweet purrmonster.

Obligatory knitting info? I got my target's name for HatAttack. She is in Texas. Oh well. I should force the kitty out of her nap and onto the floor, as I need to get ready for work. Long weekend ahead!

I feel like someone is shooting at my feet, yelling, "Dance! Dance!"

Whew. It is only 11:00 am, and I have already visited all of the buildings that I support at my morning job. 4 of them. Granted, one was a "keep you in the loop" kind of visit, and another one was just a 30-second errand, but still. Four places in three hours. Luckily my last 30 minutes seem like they will be calmer. (Assuming that I didn't just jinx myself there.)

The Server That Makes Me Cry has been put on queue for replacement, which is good as it's been awful since Day 1. It is currently less than a month old. And it truly did make me cry yesterday, with its random reboots during OS reinstall and whatnot. So today is a much better day, knowing that the manufacturer is going to replace the evil thing. Let's hope that they test the replacement.

What else? Got a bit of knitting done on Monday at SNB, as well as a bit yesterday during the failed installation. Um, not much else to report since Groundhog Day, I don't think. Just wanted to share with the world that I have been busy this morning. I should go through all of my posts and tag them and whatnot. Someday. Someday, when I am all caught up with everything else. Like that will ever happen.

Oh! Zuzu has a new toy. The container from her Pounce kitty treats. There was one treat left, so I set the whole container on the floor. She carried the container around, batted it a bit, and finally pawed the inside to get that last treat out. Now she has been sniffing the can and playing with it, in the hopes of getting all the crumbs out. It's fun to watch. If my camera was still alive and not on its way to Texas for repair, I would have taken pictures. I love my silly kitty.

Odd sighting

This morning, on the way to work, I saw a deer on a railroad trestle. Standing up there, looking down at the road underneath. I really wanted to take a picture, but you know, traffic, plus my cell phone was in my pocket and not totally easy to access. The deer was perfectly centered, and looked like a classic deer portrait, except that she was above the road, on a cement trestle. Not the usual setting, which is why it would have made a great photo. Oh well.

Zuzu woke me at 4AM, as usual. I fed her, and dozed off again on the couch. Had some weird dreams. First was being chased by scary people in huge SUVs, then I was in a university building where someone kept offering a full-time job working for Yahoo. I wanted that job, I think, but wasn't sure that it would save me from the scary SUV people.

Started yet another project last night (two, actually, three if you count the sock I started that afternoon, although it is the second sock in a series rather than a new set). Started Foliage in fuschia Malabrigo. Did the crown, and am ready to move to circular needles and start the body. It will probably go straight into hibernation, though, as I started it as part of Malabrigo Junkies' Cast On Week.

Also started a clog. Cast on and did the sole's foundation row. Would have done more if Ravelry hadn't been so distracting. I have lots more to do (see!)

That's right, the holiday yarn has arrived! I was half hoping to get the sweater done before the clog yarn reached me, but that's okay. I should also get my Yarn Pirate Booty sometime soon, as it shipped yesterday. I've been saving sock yarn until after Christmas, mostly. I will then have a ball winder and swift, to make winding the yarn a lot easier. Then I can start knitting fun socks for me. Although I think I will do another sweater in January, just because. Call it stashbusting, or making room for more stash. Oh! I need to find my Miss Chickpea coupons, as the knitting group is making an excursion tomorrow. So I should also focus on my sweater, so I have enough done to justify buying enough Malabrigo for a sweater (at 10% off). And maybe some sock yarn, just because I love it.

Anyway, must get to work!

Oh, for those of you not on Ravelry, enjoy! (You can see that Zuzu does)
